How to Do Innovative Amazon Product Research

Any Amazon FBA business needs to do research into the products they sell. Companies can find the best items to sell on Amazon FBA and guess which trends will be important in the future by doing complete research on the products they sell.

It involves looking at consumer trends and picking out things that will sell the most. But there’s more to selling on Amazon than just having goods that people want because when there’s a lot of demand, there’s also a lot of competition.

It can be hard to do well in a market that is already full, especially if you are a new Amazon FBA seller going up against bigger names. Instead of chasing market trends without a clear goal, taking the time to research your products will give you the information you need to make smart choices.

Use a Product Tracker Tool

Need help finding things to sell on Amazon? Having an Amazon product research tool or product tracker tool may help you find products that are in high demand.

Some tools let you filter best-selling goods, but most of them give you different kinds of information and features. In addition to current sales numbers, a product tracker tool also shows you how sales change from one season to the next.

Some online stores choose items that people want all year, while others depend on one season (like summer or Christmas) to bring in most of their sales. These tools also let you compare your goods to those of your competitors, which lets you keep your inventory and prices up to date.

Check Your Sales Information

If you have an Amazon FBA business, you should keep an eye on your inventory and monthly sales volume reports to see which things are selling well and which ones might need to be taken off the market. It can also be expensive to keep old goods on hand.

Amazon gives Amazon sellers several reports that they can use to improve their product ads and make more sales. Here are a few important studies to look over:

  • A picture of your collection, showing how much you have and where it is. This report can be sent every day or once a month.
  • There is a report that tells you which items might have to pay long-term keeping fees. It gives you an idea of which goods might not be selling well anymore and should be taken off your listings.
  • You can see which things are selling the best by looking at the list of completed customer orders and the details for each item.

You can get a lot of reports like these from Amazon to help you with your product study. Generally, it’s also a good idea to find small, light things that don’t change much with the seasons or that don’t have a lot of competition. Because these are available all year and cost less to ship, they are more likely to bring in more sales.

Generate New Product Ideas

Amazon’s “Best Sellers” page lists all of its best-selling items by area and updates it every hour. When making your list of possible goods to sell (or stop making), start by looking at which ones regularly make it into the top 10 or top 20.

The Amazon Best Sellers page can also help you focus your products on an area that doesn’t have as many competitors.

Perform Keyword Research

You can use tools to keep track of your products and look at Amazon’s best-selling items, but you should also do keyword research on Google and Amazon.

A product is usually more in demand when there are a lot of searches for it. You can also use keyword research to make sure that the product details you write match the searches people are making the most.

There may also be a “fad risk” with the product sales that you should be aware of. As an example, vending machine sales went through the roof in December 2016, just in time for Christmas. This trend was only around for six months before it went away.

It’s good to keep an eye on trends, but the best thing you can do is expand your product line to include things that most people will need and use every day.

Avoid Certain Product Categories

Amazon gives information about which products can be sold through FBA, as well as the requirements and limits that apply. Items that aren’t allowed include alcoholic drinks, car tires, gift cards, and items that have marketing materials that aren’t permitted.

Furthermore, Amazon FBA will not take batteries that are not packaged or that are broken or defective. These are just a few of the many goods you should not sell.

If you want to run a successful Amazon FBA business, you need to keep an eye on changes in market demand and make sure your customers always get high-quality goods. Researching Amazon FBA products gives you the information you need to make smart choices and lower your risk of making mistakes that cost a lot of money.
